This review is for Sterling Lexicon in London.

I arranged a shipment of my belongings in early October 2019 from London to Prague. They arrived in good condition on 8 October, albeit a few days after the time I was told they would be delivered (4-5 October).

However, Sterling invoiced me based on an estimate of 42 boxes, which was made after a video tour of my flat. The actual number of boxes packed and shipped was 23.

I had been liaising with Daniel Start of Sterling before the move. I asked him whether the costs would be adjusted/reimbursed if the quoted volume deviated from the actual volume. He said that they would, provided that the difference was significant.

As the estimated number of boxes was almost twice the actual number of boxes, I contacted Mr Start and asked him to reassess the fee for the move, which came to nearly £2,000 just for contents (no furniture) for 1 person in a 1 bedroom flat. He never responded to my email.

I believe that Sterling's hook to entice clients is to promise a much shorter shipping time than other movers, whilst vastly overestimating the volume of goods to ship. I got three other estimates, all of which said it would take 8-14 days. The other movers estimated the volume of goods at half the amount that Sterling did, but I chose Sterling because they said 4-5 days.

In short - AVOID Sterling if their volume estimate is significantly greater than other estimates you get.
