SCG was engaged by my wife’s family to handle the distribution of the proceeds from her father’s Trust. The preparation of the distribution and subsequent K-1 was passed around at the firm because of maternity leave and resignations, eventually landing on the desk of senior member of the firm. I filed our tax return approximately one week prior to the deadline USING the K-1 provided to us by SCG. On the 12th of April the family was notified by SCG that the K-1 was incorrect. And that we should file with the correct K-1. My wife left a message with Frank Riehle on April 15th of SCG to inform him of the time and money we have incurred and what SCG is going to do about it. Still waiting to hear back. SCG’s mistake caused us an unnecessary tax burden for 2023 of $20k not including quarterly payments. My account of 30 years has been but not filed my 2023 return because SCG has still not provided me an amended K-1. Oh yeah, I have to pay for an amended return.
