I was hoping to avoid probate using one of the online sites that provide the forms to create a trust or a will.

Bad idea.

Instead I went to the law firm where Lama corrected my misconceptions about estate planning in general and Florida law in particular. She also crafted an estate plan which enables me to avoid probate without either a trust or a will.

I still have a lot to do including letting my sister/administrator know how to navigate all my passwords, accounts, personal belongings, etc., but that's something I'm capable of since the legal framework is solid.

Furthermore, the firm has all my paperwork and information so when the time comes, my sister will be able to make them her first stop for advice.

I recently found myself in need of legal help with my father's estate. I lived in another state and needed to do as much as possible from my home. I met with Lama Alqasemi and immediately felt like I was in the right place. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She introduced me to her staff and was very up front about what they do and what it would cost. I mostly dealt with Lama and Meighan Monroe and they always treated me with respect and kindness. I did speak to a few other people at the office and they treated me in the same manner. I had to go to Florida a few times to deal with personal things of the estate, but was able to trust the legal things to them. They communicated every step of the way, and answered any questions that I had. It was never a problem that I lived in another state. They worked it out thru email and phone calls.
