REDBEARD COMBATIVES is a great place to go for training. Our son has been going for several years now and he loves it. Ben and Cindy are very knowledgeable, professional and kind. Our son has evolved in many ways. I have been there with our 6 yr old granddaughter, she has a great time. They are so good with the kids, while teaching them proper techniques. Highly recommend 5āļø's

We have been part of RedBeard Combatives for 6 months now and I cannot say enough good things. My 5 year old has been training with the coaches and they have been WONDERFUL and patient with him. My 8 year old decided she wanted to join too and has had the best time. Ben and Cindy lead a great team and train the older/more advanced kids to be excellent mentors. Anytime my kids have been paired with older or more advanced kids, the older kids have shown responsibility and taken opportunities to teach my kids holds and escapes and how to ā€œget outā€ of certain moves. I’ve been so so impressed!

My daughter has been training at Redbeard Combatives for almost four years, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the gym and its staff. The coaches are incredibly patient, thorough, and always encouraging. They truly create a family-like atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome and supported.

Over the years, my daughter has not only developed her skills in jiu-jitsu but has also built lasting friendships and gained a tremendous amount of confidence. It’s amazing to see how much she has grown, both on and off the mat. The positive and supportive environment at Redbeard Combatives is something special.

I would absolutely recommend this gym to anyone looking for a place where kids can learn, grow, and thrive in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. Redbeard Combatives has been a fantastic experience for our family!

My son will never attend red beards combatives at berkly chapel. The owner should not be Coaching small children.
As a mother I’m extremely upset, he can post all the Christian scriptures he wants it’s definitely not a Christian place. He was rude to all the children telling them to shut up and sit down.
The wife was a better coach the first 2 times my son attended. She was not there unfortunately so the husband placed my 8 yr old against a very experienced much bigger kid. My son was not being coached. He was being used as a grappling bag. Being body slammed The THIRD TIME he’s attended this place. this is totally unacceptable for a so called coach he needs a different profession.

For the past three years, my 9-year-old granddaughter has been thriving in her jujitsu classes at Redbeard Combatives. Recently, I witnessed an incident involving a boy of similar size to my granddaughter who was clearly unhappy to be there. During a grappling session, he grew frustrated and upset when he couldn’t escape a hold. His father attempted to offer advice from the sidelines, despite the rule against parents coaching, which the owner promptly pointed out. The father mentioned having some martial arts or wrestling experience, though I didn’t catch the details.

The boy became increasingly distraught, screaming loudly despite the coach’s firm instruction—delivered in his usual stern tone—to tap out or say ā€œtapā€ if it hurt, rather than yelling. The coach then paired the boy with an older, lanky student (aged 12-14) and asked the older boy to guide him step-by-step through a takedown. However, the younger boy soon screamed again, ran to his dad, and complained that it hurt, that his opponent was too big and too tough, and that he wasn’t allowed to win.

Jujitsu demands resilience, hard work, and the ability to handle pain and aggression. It’s not a sport for those who shy away from discomfort or lack the toughness to persevere. I’m incredibly proud of my granddaughter, who has gained both confidence and valuable self-defense skills through her training.

I’m not someone who writes a lot of reviews or posts a lot on social media but I feel strongly about this place and think people should know.

My son has been going to RBC for the past 2-1/2 years. To say that RBC has been a blessing and has changed our life would be an understatement.

RBC is like a family and is a teaching gym from the instructor to the littlest of kids. To see the growth in my son in the last 2-1/2 years brings me much pride. My son is 13 and now he also trains with the adults. The adults could throw him around like a rag doll but they don’t. They let him work as they coach him through the moves. Now when my son rolls with the littler kids he does the same. He could throw them around hard or submit them quickly but he doesn’t, he allows the little kids to work and coaches them through the moves as the adults do with him. It has been a great thing to watch as a parent and to see your child grow.

We have made friendships with not only other parents watching their kids but also with the kids and adults that train. Everyone is always looking out for everyone there. Some people will even bring their baby’s while they train and other parents will watch the baby as a family does. I cannot say enough good things about RBC. We love it

Whether you’re a kid participating, an adult participating or an adult just watching your kid. Jujitsu is not for everyone. You have to have the want and the ability to truly listen to what they are teaching and then apply it, not doing what you think you know. Even as a spectator we have learned a lot. As for our family we love it here.

Brought my son here for practice today Which we did two tryout practices and everything went fine. The wife was there spoke with her. The first time we came there she carried herself very professional, very well, mannered over the phone, as well as very intentive with my son, as he is beginning his journey in training in jiu-jitsu. This past week I decided to go ahead and register to a membership with them and paid the fees to join the Team for my son When the coach was training and they were doing some Grappling sessions he had a kid that was training with my son Obviously, that was more experience seeing my son who was only trained a couple days here and a couple weeks at a different center six months ago that we tried The wife was not there during this practice and the head coach was coming off very disrespectful, telling the kids to shut up and sit down Which is completely unprofessional as someone that has coached in the past soccer as well as wrestling when my son was getting a little frustrated during this grappling session was telling my son that he needs to stop whining Or he was gonna have to come sit down with me when the boy was on top of him and the coach was guiding him how to keep my son down. I was trying to give my son some pointers to try to help him because the coach was not telling him anything regarding how to get out of the position. Then, after that, the coach had him grapple with a kid twice his size at least 120 pounds when my son weighs 60 pounds The kid hip tossed him and land on top of him and slammed him to the ground. My son comes running up to me crying. trying to catch his breath because it knocked the wind out of him The coach says nothing to him to check on him as well as the boy that was about 13,14 years old when my son is 8 never came up to him or checked on him at all
The coach had the nerve to basically try to tell me to be quiet prior to having him grapple with that boy then had the audacity to pull me into the office And basically was inputting that maybe this isn’t for everybody will try it next week and see how it goes and make a decision from there His demeanor was completely off. And I felt like my son was Kind of singled out in the sense with the way he was operating and the way he was caring himself towards my child throughout the process of the practice I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re trying to get your child trained by A place that understands
Proper coaching and proper etiquette and carries himself as professionals and trainers

Ben is hands down one of the best instructors I've had the pleasure to have been trained. His total approach to self defense will give you the knowledge and skills to defend yourself on the worst day of your life. All of his techniques are pressure tested in a force on force environment. If you're considering getting trained do yourself a favor and take a Redbeard Combatives class
