Jake came and delivered a session with his wife Maria, to a group of 4 care-experienced young people aged 18-21 that I support. The session was focused around building confidence, breaking a negative thought cycle and gave loads of tips around how to prepare for and be the best version of yourself in an interview! Together they found the perfect balance between delivering engaging activities for the young people and teaching them about some of the theory. The young people were clearly really enthused and all gave high marks out of 10 when asked what they thought of the session. Both Jake and Maria's approach with the young people was great and they clearly understand how to engage young people and also tread sensitively when working with people with a variety of complex needs and trauma. For weeks I'd been tortured by indecision regarding my job. To borrow from The Clash, should I stay or should I go? Aspects of that job, I loathed. Yet, there was so much else about it that held the promise of great rewards.

One session with Jake and somehow - I still have no idea how he did it - my scrambled, frantic thought processes were calmed and clear. We put a very simple plan in place and the upshot is...I've had a promotion and a pay rise, am excited to go to work every time, and am seriously considering moving house to be closer to base.
