I've been a Ferraro Hayes client for about 10 years. The first few years I was very happy with the quality "white-glove, 5-star" service provided. Michael and his staff communicate via email, phone, or in person meeting. As the years went on the service felt "routine": upload your info, get back the return, receive an invoice. It was just an okay experience. The last few years have not been good. I've received multiple IRS notifications of changes to my filing after submission. My recent in person meeting with Michael, he answered basic questions we had, but he did not have our most recent return on hand and didn’t have any knowledge of our specific tax information leaving me to believe he didn’t plan or prep for our meeting and is no longer involved in my tax prep. In July 2023, the IRS sent a modification to my 2021 return along with a proposed amount due that included several thousand dollars in penalties and interest fees. This was due to an error that my wife's W2 was not included in the filing. Not sure why the system didn't take the file, but my wife has always had a W2 included every year. The CPA engagement letter states the client is fully responsible for providing all information and verifying the prepared return, but they will ask for clarification if the information appears inconsistent or incomplete. So, when we were shocked to be receiving a refund that we were not expecting, we questioned it, but there was no further action from Ferraro Hayes. The office seems to lack organization because it took a week to be contacted after I notified Ferraro Hayes about the 2021 tax modification only for Michael to ask me to provide the documentation when it had been with his office for the last week. Michael’s concession was to apply half the penalty amount as a credit to my account for future tax preparation leaving me to pay the full penalty and interest. With his price increases and lack of attention to detail, I’ll take my business to another firm.

I have a personal and a business tax return, as well as a return for my parents. My father is deceased, and my mom is very elderly, so it can be difficult to put the information together, but they are so helpful. They have been doing my taxes for years, and I could not be happier. The best part is that I can email or call, and I always get a response.

Last year's tax return was very complicated due to the sale of 2 businesses. We turned everything over to Michael Hayes and let him get to work. We were very impressed with how thorough he was. He did everything possible to minimize our tax and was extremely knowledgeable in the Small Business area. We felt very confident entrusting him to complete and file our returns. We will used him again next year when we sell yet another business. He also helped us with some retirement income advice. He was easily accessible to us in person, email, and on the phone. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing a CPA.

I emailed as was very specific that i was looking for help on my personal tax return. They scheduled me an appointment only to have me come out and tell me they weren't taking on clients for personal taxes right now. Huge waste of my time.

I am writing this review regretfully in hopes that this firm will improve on the customer service that I received because I truly would like to change my review to five stars. Vince and Michaels business has helped my family through the years so it saddens me that something as simple as a lack of good customer service has thwarted my impression. I spoke to a young lady by what name I can recall as jovita/jolina? When I was speaking with her, I was greeted with the obvious sigh when I believe she felt I was asking too many questions as if she couldn't be bothered with the work to come up with a reply. On occasion a blatant attitude would show through before I would be left on hold for an extended amount of time. I understand that being in the customer service business can be difficult for our youth so I chose not to get upset but to instead quietly thank her for her time and retreat from the conversation. I don't expect to take my business elsewhere for my family but I just want to let it be known and hopefully see it improve.
