My Family Used Them for 20+ Years and now I have $4,000 and counting of Penalties and Late fees from the IRS.

My family has been using David Feigenbaum to be our tax accountant for the past 20 + years. So when I decided to start using him 3 years ago, I thought he would be great. I’ve been using him for the past three years and year after year it’s gotten worse and worse. Not only are his services super expensive, this past year he did not answer his phone at all and was slow to answer any emails with a short unhelpful response, and I tried to schedule a meeting with him to talk about my taxes but his office never had him call me back. They would always tell me that he was always on vacation or out of the office for the day, but I asked about his hours and when I called the office at the exact time he was supposed to be in there for next week he never was at the office. This left me trying to figure out how to save money on my taxes all on my own. If I wanted to just have them file my taxes for me, I would just use a free TurboTax like service not to have to pay the ridiculous expense of having him do it for me. Then I gave him my taxes the first week in January asking him to file them right away for me and instead of filing them, he put them off and filed extensions until late August. Not only then do I have to pay my taxes, but I also have to pay a $2,000 penalty and interest for filing late plus another $2,400 late fee on another delinquent tax. He said that this was my fault because I gave him more work than he thought I was going to, but he has been filing for the same businesses I own for the past three years and he had 4 months to do it and instead did it in 8 months. He also said that since he helped me out and saved me money, it’s not his fault and I have to pay it. I really don’t understand how he helped me out because I had to pay him thousands of dollars just for him to file my taxes this year. I would not recommend them at all for any tax related services. No matter what recommendation you get even if your family has been using them for 20 years, he has practically dropped off the face of the planet at this point and do yourself a favor by using a free service online or getting a much better and reliable tax person.
