Ken Larson kindly accepted my request to give the Tip-off Talk for our Crew Chief Leadership Program in Calgary. The program was targeted at basketball referees from the United States, Taiwan & Canada, each looking to enhance their leadership qualities & skills. As a former elite basketball player & coach, having Ken address referees was refreshing and insightful, maybe even a bit satisfying for Ken 🙂 And he absolutely 'knocked it outta the park' (or 'slam dunked it' keeping with the basketball theme). Ken was a guest speaker for an event we were hosting for Sr. high boys from all over the province. He made a point to be present at all the games during his entire stay and connected with athletes, coaches, referees, and families alike. His address to these young boys at our banquet was both inspiring and captivating. After he was done his talk, players and teams wanted more! They stuck around to talk to him, take pictures with him and to get him to sign their weekend keepsakes. To say Ken left an impression on these young men would be an understatement!
