I moved a little over a year ago from Minnesota to Florida. I decided that it would make most sense for me to, at the same time, switch from a Minnesota cpa to a Florida cpa to do my federal and state tax return.
My tax return is quite complicated with many K-1's and brokerage account transactions. I also have several Qualified Opportunity Zones in my real estate portfolio.
I was looking for a qualified cpa with many years of experience in handling a broad range of returns. I also wanted one with a good reputation.
Doug Cohen was highly recommended by a friend of mine who had used him to prepare his tax returns for many years. While I interviewed over the phone several candidates, I was most impressed over the phone with Doug, and chose him to do my returns
My experience with him has been very favorable. I am far happier with him as my cpa than what is was with my Minnesota cpa.My Minnesota cpa made numerous errors requiring me to review several drafts of the return and point our numerous errors. Not only was this time consuming, but it caused the tax preparation fee to increase.
With Doug, the work was done efficiently, and very few items had to be corrected. All of my email correspondences with him were handled in a timely manner.
