Very friendly and helpful staff! Gave me tons and tons of information and suggestions of things to do when my grandchildren visit for christmas. They have so much information and suggestions for people visiting the area. They even have some very cool SPF rash guard shirts for sale.

So knowledgeable! Incredibly nice and welcoming it is a must stop if visiting the lower keys including key west. They prepare you with all the information you need. Steve, Bill, Hedy, and Lynn all do an amazing job! Add Andrea and Sandy! Wow what a crew! If you are new to the neighborhood, I would strongly recommend you visit.

Worse than useless - straight up misinformation. I was greeted by a forgettable slightly overweight older woman and asked her about a map with some neat places to walk around and see the cute little deer like every other godawful obnoxious tourist and she pointed out the one tiny little trail marked on her map next to the Blue Hole. I said the last time I was here I'd found some other spot and seen some deer, she told me evrywhere but where she pointed me to was "all residential" and we should just stick to that one trail. I pointed to about where I thought I'd been before on her map and she said that's where the prison was. I asked about No Name Key - all residential as well apparently. We walked her little trail in about 20 minutes and then found the spot we'd been before which was marked as a nature preserve, contained no residences and was not even close to the old prison which is now closed. We drove out to No Name Key and found many trails through very non-residential areas also marked as nature preserves where the cute little deer frolicked careless and free. We even found an abandoned quarry with cool old rusty machines strewn about. We walked out to a point along Long Beach at sunset and it was beautiful and serene. Then we returned to a previously scouted spot down a little dirt road to park and camp. For free. So we had a great time and I'll love Big Pine Key forever but this little visitor's center of theirs can suck the big one. Thanks for nothing!
