This is a review for the property management aspect of Weichert - Coastal City. We recently relocated from the west coast to one of their properties at Pelican Point. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the property in person prior to signing lease, but were reassured it was turn-key. Since moving in we have had an incredible number of problems with virtually no response from Weichert - Coastal City.

1) Sewage backflows into the majority of our drains in the kitchens and bathrooms. Literal human fecal matter from other units backflows into our kitchen and bathroom. We have sent over 10 messages to Weichert, photos, threatened legal action, threatened rent withholding, and with almost no interest in correcting the problem. Can you imaging paying over $3000/month for an apartment and having literal human feces in your bathtub for 2 months? Well that's the management you can expect. They finally sent a plumber, who made multiple recommendations, none of which have been followed up on. We have to leave our apartment at times with how foul the smell is in it from the sewage backup.

2) Water filter dysfunction. We were told by separate plumbers that our water filter was unsafe and needed immediate replacement, almost 3 months ago. We have been showering in this filthy water since without intervention. Weichert solution was to remove the water filter instead.

3) Washer and dryer. Upon moving in, the washer and dryer did not work. Weichert replaced the washer and dryer rather quickly but with models that do NOT fit in the unit. We now have a washer and dry in our kitchen. Literally the first thing you see when you come in our property is a door they took off the hinges and a washer and dryer in our hallway.

4) We noticed a sparking sound on our first night in the unit and found an outdoor electric outlet intermittently sparking. We contacted them immediately and told them this was a fire hazard. 3 months later they finally fixed it after we threatened to stop rent payment.

This company is unsafe, unprofessional, and manipulative. They are happy to take our rent every month, but offer nothing in return. We have rented for a combined 40 years between my significant other and I and have never experienced such failure in our lives before. We continue to reach out to them to attempt to establish any sort of intervention, so hopefully this review will inspire them to respond to us.

Update 5/1/24:
- We're 10 months into a 12 month lease. Continues with sewage backing up into our sinks. Plumber came out 5 months ago and recommended a valve due to improper flow "air-locking" the sink and causing back up of sewage. Weichert said it was order and would be here within a week (this was 5 months ago). Our laundry machine remains in the entry way with a door on the floor...again for a total of 10 months. We have requested multiple times to speak with owner as it is clear they are not in touch with them about the management of this property (to which they have not provided contact information).

I moved in to a property managed by Weichert Realtors Coastal City after accepting a new job offer back in December of 2018. At the time of move in there were a few minor things that needed replaced/fixed. Within 24 hours after placing a work order for the repairs I was contacted not only by the repair service company they were sending out but also by their office personnel to confirm that I had successfully scheduled the repairs. The contracted repair service company and in house maintenance workers were both extremely professional and pleasant to work with. As a first time renter, in a new state, working with Weichert Realtors Coastal City has been an absolute pleasure and has provided me with peace of mind during such a huge transition in my life.
