I agree with reviewer, James. Anything less than 5 stars given indicates a person hasn't considered what this place actually is.... MAGNIFICENT. I'll be taking up winter residence here soon and I can hardly wait to pack every memory I can into the short 8-month stint I've been blessed with. I met the Rocky Mountains this past Saturday.
My visit in to see first - hand, first - time still amazes me and causes a head - shake, as it's the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my life. I met Diane at the Visitors Center. Her knowledge of the area and kindness in sharing was another highlight in my day. This is an very informative stop to anyone visiting.

The Never Summer Store owned by Tim and Mary Lou Randall is a great store with a variety of well made, 'warm clothing' items. They also carry a large selection of hiking supplies and 'must haves'. They know what comes in handy when out on the trail! Great people with great products.

This is an amazing town. Don't tell your friends though, I want it all to myself. I laugh at the reviews... 1 star because he ate bad fried chicken? 1 star because someone's dog was barked at by another dog then the whole town got together and ran this guy out? haha please. The town has some of the most amazing views I have ever seen. Surrounded by mountains, clean air and the most pure lake water you have ever seen. Summer, Winter, when ever, this place is perfect. You want fireworks, go to Disney World. You want extreme beauty and magnificent breathtaking scenery go to Grand Lake.

It's nice hip website accept for two things:
1) the Chat feature gets in the way often and you cannot exit out till later in your search and
2) I requested the chamber to send me a brochure or magazine they publish. The answer I received was that THE BEST RESOURCE are all these links which they attached. I know how to access those and that is not what I asked for or wanted.
Oh well, on to bigger and better places. Have a Colorful Colorado kind of day!

Way over blown for 4th of July.. We had heard so many good things about the little town that maybe our expectations of what we would see were set high, but they could not have been more wrong.. Everything is packed really into one main strip . Lake access backs up to that strip and really doesn't have a lot of room to enjoy Fireworks... Stopped into a local restaurant for dinner and decide to try their 4th of July special which was fried Chicken.. Main course was way overcooked and greasy, fries were something out of a grocery stores frozen isle if even that good.. Service was poor in addition to the bad meal just making that part of the trip Fantastic.. After waiting out an hour in a half of rain and then sitting on rocks to hopefully enjoy the Fireworks we had heard so much about, we were treated to a 7 minute show.. UNBELIEVABLE..... Totally disappointing.. So after enduring that fantastic show, we proceeded to get into our vehicle rather quickly and out into what we thought was the flow of traffic only to sit in the same spot for almost an hour while everyone else who had walked past us on the road to their vehicles left before us.. NEVER AGAIN.. Town is a joke ....

We LOVE Grand Lake and their Chamber of Commerce is very helpful with any questions even prior to arrival (I emailed several times!) Scenery in this town is magnificent and it’s such a cute little town with plenty of activities and restaurants to supplement time in the park.
